The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has issued a seven-day ultimatum to both the Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to resolve their ongoing dispute and end the warning strike that began on Monday, October 13, 2025.
Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, NANS President Comrade Olushola Oladoja expressed deep concern over the disruption of academic activities across public universities. He emphasized that Nigerian students have enjoyed two uninterrupted academic years under President Tinubu’s administration, and this progress must not be reversed.
“We are giving both parties seven days to resolve this issue. If the strike continues beyond that, Nigerian students will take to the streets in protest,” Oladoja warned.
ASUU had declared a two-week warning strike over unresolved issues including revitalization funding, earned academic allowances, and university autonomy. NANS has urged both parties to prioritize the future of Nigerian students and return to the negotiation table immediately.
