The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has officially commenced a two-week nationwide warning strike starting today, Monday, October 13, 2025.
The strike was declared on Sunday by ASUU National President, Prof. Chris Piwuna, during a press briefing at the University of Abuja. According to him, the action follows the Federal Government’s failure to fully implement agreements on university revitalisation, earned allowances, and improved welfare for lecturers.
“Compatriots of the press, it goes without saying that there is nothing sufficient on ground to stop the implementation of the ASUU-NEC’s resolution to embark on a two-week warning strike,” Piwuna stated.
The strike affects all public universities across Nigeria, with branches directed to withdraw their services until further notice.
