The Lagos State University, Ojo (LASU) invites application from suitably qualified members of the public for Admission into the university Postgraduate (PG) programme for 2017/2018 session.

ADVERTISEMENT FOR SUPPLEMENTARY ADMISSION INTO POSTGRADUATE PROGRAMMES FOR THE 2017/2018 ACADEMIC SESSION
1.0 PREAMBLE:
Lagos State University Postgraduate School invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for admission into its various Postgraduate Programmes (Full-Time and Part Time) for the 2017/2018 Academic Session.

2.0 GENERAL REQUIREMENT[S]:
The University requires Five [ 5 ] CREDITS including English Language at Ordinary Level (GCE, WASC, SSCE, NECO and NABTEB) for ALL Courses and Credit in MATHEMATICS at Ordinary Level for SCIENCE, SOCIAL SCIENCES, MANAGEMENT SCIENCES and EDUCATIONAL MANAGEMENT Courses.

3.0 METHOD OF APPLICATION:
Applicants are required to pay the sum of Twenty Five Thousand Three Hundred Naira (N25,300.00) non-refundable application fee into LASU Account on-line.
All applicants shall be required to sit for qualifying/screening interview on the Main Campus.

4.0 LIST OF ACADEMIC PROGRAMMES:
1. FACULTY OF ARTS
A. DEPARTMENT OF PHILOSOPHY
M.A. PHILOSOPHY

Candidates for admission into the M. A. Philosophy should possess at least:
a. A good honours degree with a minimum of Second Class Lower Division (2.2) in Philosophy of the Department of Philosophy, Lagos State University, or any Department of Philosophy of a University in Nigeria or elsewhere in the world, recognized by the Senate of the University.
b. In exceptional circumstances, graduates of other disciplines may be considered for admission. The Department may recommend remedial courses in Philosophy for such students where some deficiencies are noticed.
c. Candidates must satisfy the O’Level admission requirements as spelt out by the Postgraduate School.
d. All Candidates shall be subjected to a selection process.

2. FACULTY OF MANAGEMENT SCIENCES
A. DEPARTMENT OF MANAGEMENT TECHNOLOGY
MASTER OF SCIENCE (M.Sc) IN PROJECT MANAGEMENT
Admission Requirements:

To qualify for admission into the M.Sc. Project Management Programme, the Candidate must possess or meet a combination of the following:
i. Graduate of Lagos State University and holder of any other Degree recognized by the Senate of Lagos State University not lower than Second Class Lower
Division in the following fields: Management Technology, Project Management Technology, Transport Management Technology, Management Sciences, Economics, Geography and Planning, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial and Production Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Information and Communication Technology, Educational Management, Science and Technology Education, Social Sciences Education and other related courses.
ii. Five (5) O’Level credits, including English Language and Mathematics, in not more than two (2) sittings.
iii. The applicant should demonstrate proficiency in computer applications.

B. DEPARTMENT OF MARKETING
1. Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing
(FULL-TIME/PART-TIME)

a. A Bachelor Degree with a minimum of Third (3rd) Class in Marketing, Business Administration, Accounting, Banking and Finance, Management Technology, Industrial Relations and Personnel Management, Insurance and other related disciples from the Lagos State University or any other University as recognized by LASU Senate.
b. Higher National Diploma (HND) graduates with a minimum of Upper Credit in Marketing and Business
related courses are considered eligible
c. Candidates with NIMN, APCON and other related professional bodies may be considered based on their satisfactory performance in the selection process to be organized by the School of Postgraduate Studies of Lagos State University.
d. Postgraduate students must satisfy the Ordinary Level admission requirements as spelt out by the Universal Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) for Marketing.

2. M.Sc. IN MARKETING
(FULL-TIME/PART-TIME)

a. Candidates who possess a good Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Advertising, Public Relations, Business Administration, Industrial Relations and Economics with a minimum of a Second Class Lower Division Grade in LASU or any other University as recognized by LASU Senate.
b. M.Sc. students must satisfy the Ordinary Level admission requirements as spelt out by the Universal Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) for Marketing.
c. All Candidates shall be expected to undergo the process of selection as specified by the School of Postgraduate Studies of Lagos State University.

3. M.Phil/PhD MARKETING
(FULL-TIME/PART-TIME)

a. Candidates must possess M. Sc. Degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Management, International Business, Industrial Relations and Personnel Management and other allied disciplines of Lagos State University and any other University as may be recognized by the Senate of Lagos State University
b. M.Sc. candidates on CGPA of 3.50-3.99 will be required to commence from M.Phil programme.
c. Candidates with a minimum of 4.0 are admissible for PhD direct
d. A research proposal (plan) of not more than 250 words should be forwarded with the application.

C. DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION Master in Public Administration (MPA)
Admission Requirements

To qualify for admission into the Master in Public Administration Programme, candidates must possess either or a combination of the following underlisted requirements:
a. Five (5) Credits at O’Level including Mathematics and English Language at not more than two (2) sittings.
b. Graduates from Lagos State University or any other University recognized by the Senate of the Lagos State University with not less than Third (3rd) Class.
c. Holders of HND with a minimum of Upper credit plus three (3) years post qualification work experience
d. Holders of HND at Lower Credit must possess a Postgraduate Diploma in addition to six (6) years work experience.

3. SCHOOL OF TRANSPORT
M.Sc. PROGRAMME IN TRANSPORT AND LOGISTICS
Admission Requirements

To qualify for admission into the M.Sc. programme in Transport and Logistics, the Candidate must possess or meet a combination of the followings:
i. A good Honors degree in Transport Studies, Transport Management, Transport Technology, Transport Planning, Logistics, Supply Chain, Geography, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial and Production Engineering, Operations Management, Management Sciences, Economics, Urban and Regional Planning, Environmental Sciences and other related courses of the Lagos State University or holder of any other degree recognized by the Senate of Lagos
State University not lower than Second Class (Lower Division)
ii. Five (5) O’Level credits, including English Language and Mathematics, in not more than two (2) sittings.
iii. Candidate with Third Class and with membership of Transport Professional bodies such as Chartered Institutes of Logistics and Transport [CILT], Institute of Transport Administration of Nigeria [IOTA] and other recognized transport professional bodies are qualified;
iv. Candidates must satisfy all other conditions as stated in the general regulation governing Postgraduate Degrees in Lagos State University.

M.Phil/Ph.D IN TRANSPORT AND
LOGISTICS

To qualify for admission into the MPhil/PhD programme in Transport and Logistics, the Candidate must possess or meet a combination of the following:
a. On M.Sc Degree in Transport Studies, Transport Management, Logistics, Supply chain, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial and Production Engineering, Geography, Operations Management, Management, Economics, Urban and Regional Planning, Environmental Sciences and other related courses of the Lagos State University or holder of any other MSc degree recognized by the Senate of Lagos State University not lower than CGPA of 3.5.
b. Five (5) O’Level credits, including English Language and Mathematics, in not more than two (2) sittings.
c. Candidate must satisfy all other conditions as stated in the general regulation governing Postgraduate Degrees in Lagos State University.

Ph.D. IN TRANSPORT AND LOGISTICS
To qualify for admission into the Ph.D programme in Transport and Logistics, the Candidate must possess or meet a combination of the following:
i. An M.Sc Degree in: Transport Studies, Transport Management, Logistics, Supply chain, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial and Production Engineering, Geography, Operations Management, Management, Economics, Urban and Regional Planning, Environmental Sciences and other related courses of the Lagos State University or holder of any other M.Sc Degree recognized by the Senate of Lagos State University not lower than CGPA of 4.0.
ii. Candidates with M.Phil Degree in the disciplines listed above with CGPA not lower than 4.0 may be admitted into the Ph.D. programme.
iii. Five (5) O’Level credits, including English Language and Mathematics, in not more than two (2) sittings.
iv. Candidate must satisfy all other conditions as stated in the general regulation governing Postgraduate degrees in Lagos State University.

4. FACULTY OF SOCIAL SCINECES
A DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHOLOGY
M. Sc. PSYCHOLOGY
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR M.SC PSYCHOLOGY DEGREE (M.Sc. PSY)

In addition to satisfying the Postgraduate admission requirements, the Department requires that:
(i) Candidates for admission should possess at least a minimum of Second Class Lower Honours Degree in Psychology.
(ii) Candidates from other Disciplines (e.g. Environmental Sciences, Guidance & Counselling, Industrial Relations and Personnel Management, Law and Medicine) may be admitted provided such candidates agree in writing to take remedial courses as the Department may deem necessary. Not more than twenty percent (20%) of Candidates from other Disciplines shall make up the total number of the admitted Students.
(iii) All Candidates for admission must sit for an entrance examination/interview and pass it at determined mark as the Department may prescribe from time to time.

M.Phil/Ph.D PSYCHOLOGY
(a) Admission to the M.Phil/PhD conversion programme is open to graduates of Lagos State University, or of other approved Universities, who have attained a specified level of performance in the M.Sc. Psychology Degree Programme. The Candidate who must have had a weighted Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) not less than 3.5 to 3.99 will be required to commence on M.Phil programme. The student will also be required to take at least 12 course units from the 800/900 level courses as may be directed by the Department.
(b) For the M.Phil./Ph.D Candidates, the minimum duration for these programmes shall be two (2) semesters after the registration and a maximum duration of four (4) semesters.
(c) Students for M.Phil/PhD conversion programme shall undertake a conversion examination and must obtain a total weighted Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) not lower than 3.5 and above in the 12 units courses and an oral examination of proposed research work.

Ph.D PSYCHOLOGY
1. Candidates for admission to the programme shall be:
a. Those initially registered for the M.Sc. or M.Phil/Ph.D conversion programme of the Department and have obtained a total weighted Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) not lower than 4.0 in the course examinations and project at the Lagos State University.
OR
b. Candidates who possess the Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) Degree in Psychology of an approved University recognized by LASU Senate. Candidates admitted to the programme will be required, on the recommendation of the Department, to take certain courses at the 800/900 levels up to a maximum of 12 Units from the Candidate’s area of specialization.
2. Candidates are required to defend their research proposals before an Examination Panel as may be recommended by the Department and give Departmental Seminars on their Ph.D. Research Work.

MASTER IN CRIMINOLOGY, SECURITY AND LEGAL PSYCHOLOGY (MCSLP)
Admission Requirements

In addition to satisfying the Postgraduate admission requirements, the Department requires that:
(i) Candidates for admissions should normally possess any of the following background and experience: Military, Para-military, Security / Intelligence, legal and / or Judiciary.
(ii) Candidates for admission should possess at least a minimum of Second Class Lower Honours Degree in Psychology or a minimum of Upper Credit from approved Polytechnic from any other Discipline.
(iii) All Candidates for admission must sit for an entrance written and / or oral examination and pass such at determined grade as the Department may prescribe from time to time.
(iv) Candidates with Higher National Diploma degrees (or their equivalents within the Military/Security educational structures) of not less than Upper Credit in any discipline are also eligible.
(v) Candidates from the Military, Para-military, Security/Intelligence communities whose ranks are below that of a Major/Superintendent in the Military/Paramilitary (or its equivalent in the other Security Organizations) are NOT eligible.
(vi) Non-Military/Security/Intelligence personnel are also eligible but shall NOT be more than thirty percent (30%) of the admitted students. Post qualification(s) experience, exposure and position in the place of work are very important.
(vii) Years of experience of Candidates are of utmost importance. Hence candidates who are highly experienced but with no educational qualification formally recognized within the Military/Security/Judicial sectors may also be admitted. Candidates with the above qualifications must have worked for not less than fifteen (15) years and should not carry a rank below a Major in the Army or its equivalent in other Paramilitary Organizations.
(viii) The decision of the Admissions Select Committee (ASC) of the Department of Psychology, Lagos State University in respect of any Candidate who applied for the M.Sc CSL Psychology shall be deemed final. Decisions of the ASC shall be communicated by the Head, Department of Psychology, to the Dean Post Graduate School, LASU.

5.0 CLOSING DATE:
The Closing date for the application forms is four (4) weeks from the date of this publication.
Application forms for all programmes should be submitted on-line and a copy of the e-Registration Slip, printed out by the applicant.

6.0 GENERAL INFORMATION:
 Candidates who have not completed the National Youth Service Corps assignment or their current Postgraduate Programmes need NOT apply.
 All academic transcripts must be received latest two (2) weeks after the close of sale of forms.
 Request for transfer of processed application forms from one Department to another will not be entertained
 Candidates must personally attend the selection and written examinations as make-up test will NOT be conducted.
 Candidates are requested to include their e-mail addresses/ phone numbers on the Application Forms.
